Editorial Disclaimer
ClaimAlert is consumer-rights journalism, not legal advice. We summarize public court records and government enforcement actions in plain English so that ordinary people can find — and file — the class action claims they're entitled to. We are not your lawyer, and reading anything on this site does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Reviewed by legal professionals
Every published case page that has an open claims window is reviewed by at least one licensed consumer-protection attorney before publication. Reviewers verify that the eligibility summary, deadline, and claim instructions match the source documents. Reviewers do not direct our editorial coverage decisions and do not have veto power over what we publish.
Source materials we rely on
- Federal court docket data published through PACER and the RECAP archive maintained by the Free Law Project.
- Court-approved settlement notices and final approval orders published by court-appointed settlement administrators.
- The Federal Trade Commission's public Cases & Proceedings database.
- The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's public enforcement action archive.
- Verified press statements issued by the parties to the case.
What we will not do
- Publish editorial coverage in exchange for payment from a defendant or plaintiff.
- Recommend a specific law firm to you in exchange for that firm's payment to us. (We offer free attorney consultations through a vetted network; the network is disclosed and you are free to use any other attorney instead.)
- Tell you with certainty that you will recover money. We can tell you whether you appear to fit a class definition; the actual outcome depends on the court, the facts, and the administrator's claim review.
- Provide individualized legal advice. For that, talk to a licensed attorney in your state — ours, or anyone else you trust.
Past results
Past settlement results discussed on this site are not a guarantee of future settlement results. Every class action is different.
State-specific notes
Some states (including but not limited to New York, Texas, and Missouri) regulate attorney advertising and lawyer referral services. The participating-attorney network referenced on this site complies with the bar rules of the state in which the attorney practices. If you live in a state where the network does not have a participating attorney, we will not match you, and you can use any consumer-protection attorney of your own choosing.
